Richard Swenning has been engaged in professional figure skating since1988. Richards’ career began as a principal soloist for the Ice Capades production of "The Best of Times". He then spent 8 years with the Ice Capades as a lead soloist in productions such as "OnTop Of The World" , "Salute to Hollywood", and Dorothy Hamill’s "Cinderella Frozen in Time" .

Richards skating ability ,dedication, and reputation as one of the worlds finest male skaters carried him through an extensive 20 year principal skating career.He has performed and choreographed for companies such as Willie Bietak, Dick Foster, Wilma Leary, Richard Porter, Rand , Stageworks WWP, Endemol, Holiday On Ice, Renaissance ,Glacier Ice ,and Charles Shulz production companies.

In addition to these prestigious roles Richard was a principal cast member in Feld Entertainments "Grease On Ice", Torvill and Deans "Ice Adventure’s", and a company member of The Next Ice Age whom have performed the only ice shows at The Kennedy Center ,and The American Dance Festival. He has also been featured in many televison specials for Holiday on Ice, "E!" Entertainment’s channel’s "Behind The Scenes with The Ice Capades", The Ice Capades TV Special with Kirk Cameron , RTL Germany, and Fox Kids The Netherlands.

In recent years Richard has choreographed an original 4 segment- 2 hour production of "Katenka Und Der Eiswolf " written for Volkswagen Corporation and Spotlight Productions. Richard is a choreographer for Advanced Entertainment Group, and in 2008 assisted in the on ice production of "Country On The Rocks" for Hard Rock Theme Park which has won The International Big E IAAPA Award 2008 for Best Show in its category! Richard has self produced and choreographed "Skating Moods" in Myrtle Beach, SC and was the team choreographer for Team Fusion which took an overall first place at the Major League Figure Skating Championships in 2004 where Richard himself won the artistic program segment of the competition. Richard has co-choreographed with his wife Jennifer open air ice shows with the cities of Locarno and Chiasso, Switzerland.

Richard resides in Charleston, Sc and Kaufbeuren, Germany with his wife and daughter. He is the creative director of Ice Maxx Productions, and the current Vice President of the PFSC. The Professional Figure Skaters Cooperative links ice show producers and artists together to positively promote figure skating events and opportunities. Richard was elected to this position by his peers in the ice show industry.
